REPORT CARD VS. BILLS

PASSING OFFENSE: C -- Trent Green got the start and had some decent moments, but an interception return for a touchdown broke the game open in the fourth quarter. Green completed 17 of 32 passes for 236 yards, with 53 coming on a screen pass to RB Steven Jackson. His passer rating was 64.1, which is lower than Marc Bulger's season rating of 73.2.

RUSHING OFFENSE: B -- Jackson ran hard and went over 100 yards for the first time this season, gaining 110 yards on 24 carries. Rookie WR Donnie Avery scored on a 37-yard run when he lined up behind the quarterback.

PASS DEFENSE: B-minus -- The Rams had four sacks and an interception, the first takeaway of the season. The four sacks were more than the three they had in the first three games combined. However, all four sacks came in the first half when they led, 14-6. DE Leonard Little had his first extensive action of the season and had two sacks and three quarterback hits.

RUSH DEFENSE: C-plus -- Except for one drive at the start of the second half, which was mostly runs, the play was solid. RB Marshawn Lynch averaged just 3.0 yards per rush, with 57 yards on 19 attempts.

SPECIAL TEAMS: C -- Coverage slipped, but it was against one of the better groups of special teams in the league. P Donnie Jones had another outstanding day, averaging 56.2 yards on five punts with a 40.6-yard net. PK Josh Brown missed a 51-yard field goal.

COACHING: C -- The team played hard, but had another poor second-half performance. The Rams were outscored 25-0 in the second half and 18-0 in the fourth quarter. For the season, the Rams have been outscored 80-17 in the second half and 56-10 in the fourth quarter. That, as much as anything, was the reason for the Monday firing of Scott Linehan.
