Vikings suddenly looking like playoff giants

Vikings suddenly looking like playoff giants
Adam Best and the rabid football fans at Fan-Sided Blogs will weigh in with the perspective from the bleachers, couches and sports bars after each week's games.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress and owner Zygi Wilf don't look like two guys who run an NFL franchise -- they look like they should be co-starring in a Guinness commercial. That being said, despite soaring expectations and a skyrocketing payroll, the way their Vikes' September went was anything but "brilliant."

  • Childress needs to stick with Jackson. If it works out, it could carry his Vikings far into the playoffs and solve their quarterback riddle for the foreseeable future. If Jackson flops, so what? I don't think Frerotte has a Trent Dilfer left in him. I just don't. The right reaction to this QB controversy is to go with Jackson. It might not be a "brilliant" move, but it'd be gutsy. In the NFL sometimes that's all it takes.

    Around the League

AFC East: I can't get over the Miami Dolphins winning nine games. Last year they were pretty much exactly what the Detroit Lions are this year -- a joke. Nobody's laughing anymore. -- Full AFC East breakdown

AFC North: The Curious Case of Benjamin Roethlisberger. Big Ben plays bad and then delivers the game-winning drive and touchdown*. Always just enough to win with that guy. (*allegedly) -- Full AFC North breakdown

AFC South: Andre Johnson looked like David Boston circa 2001 on Sunday. Either that or Pat Healy playing with Warren and his buddies. It just didn't even look fair. -- Full AFC South breakdown

AFC West: -- As a Kansas City Chiefs fan, getting rid of Carl Peterson after nearly twenty years feels like "enter insensitive dictator metaphor here." Sorry. Best I could do to contain myself. -- Full AFC West breakdown

NFC East: Mike Sellers: worst goalline back ever? Even Arthur Digby Sellers and his iron lung could have cracked the endzone against the Bungles. -- Full NFC East breakdown

NFC North: Is it just me, or did Dan Orlovsky look pretty good on Sunday? Does that mean we never have to see Daunte get his roll on again? Who am I kidding? -- they're still the Lions. -- Full NFC North breakdown

NFC South: -- A.J. Smith must cry every time he sees Michael Turner post yet another monster day. Turner has got to be the MVP right now. Has to be. Full NFC South breakdown

NFC West: I heard Congress has proposed a special stimulus package for all those who suffered through the Seattle Seahawks-St. Louis Rams tragedy. Could just be a rumor, though. -- Full NFC West breakdown
