St. Louis Rams Notes, Quotes 2008-12-10
--With three games remaining in the season, the Rams are on a path to becoming the lowest-scoring team since the franchise moved to St. Louis in 1995.

As bad as things were in 2007, the Rams managed 263 points for the season, an average of 16.4 per game. In the 4-12 season of 1998, when June Henley was the team's leading rusher with 313 yards, they totaled 285 points, 17.8 per game.

After scoring just 10 points in Sunday's 34-10 loss to Arizona, the Rams have scored 44 points in their last five games combined and have 169 for the season, an average of 13.0. They have reached 20 points just once, in a 34-14 win over Dallas on Oct. 19. To reach last year's total of 263, the Rams would have to score 94 points in their final games against Seattle, San Francisco and Atlanta.

--Right tackle Alex Barron was benched for being late for a team meeting Friday and replaced by Adam Goldberg. Barron did play in the second half.

Asked why he was late, Barron said, "Why? Because I was late. I was late. I didn't follow the rules. Goldberg stepped in and did a great job. I just got in there when I could."

When asked if he talked to his teammates, Barron said, "I talked to the coaches and everything is cool." Then, when asked if everything is OK between him and Haslett, Barron said, "What do you mean OK? We had a conversation when I was late and that was it."

Next year is the final one on Barron's contract.

As for Goldberg, QB Marc Bulger said, "Those kinds of guys are invaluable. I've been here before when we didn't have a guy like that, and it really shows. For him to come in and play like that with two days notice, that's pretty good."

Earlier this season, Goldberg started two games at both left tackle and left guard, but had just Friday's practice at right tackle to prepare for the game.

He said, "It's your job to be ready to go at any time. I felt comfortable out there. I've been playing all on the left side this year, but I've played a lot on the right side in my career. I fell back into the habit."

--QB Marc Bulger had this to say about the play of RB Steven Jackson: "He looked good, but he always looks good when he's out there. He made some incredible runs early on. But in a game where you get behind, you kind of have to take him out of the game and start throwing the ball. It's nice to have him back."

However, except for a 32-yard run, Jackson didn't have any "incredible" runs. Jackson had 19 carries for 64 yards (although adding up his yards in the gamebook has it at 67). His other 18 rushes totaled 32 yards and he had 13 attempts for two yards or less, including three for minus yardage.

--DE Leonard Little has been playing for several weeks with a torn hamstring and came off the field limping in the third quarter Sunday after aggravating the injury on a sack. Little also had two tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries.

He said, "I just cramped up a little bit. It probably got a little fatigued, but it's something I've got to deal with for the rest of the year."
