--WR Dane Looker was very vocal in the locker room after the Rams' 41-13 loss to the Giants Sunday. Asked the gist of what he said, Looker answered, "I'm not the guy who steps up vocally that often, but I just wanted to let our team know that we're good enough. We don't need to accept losing. Just because you're 0-2, doesn't mean it has to turn into 0-8 like it did last year. I wanted to try and nip that in the bud as a soon as I could and as soon as we can as a team. This league is funny.
"When you get momentum going in the right direction, you do well, and when you get it in the wrong direction, you seem to slide. We can't have that happen. We need this win very badly. We're going to go out there and give it everything we've got; 0-2 isn't the end of the world, it's a long season."
Asked what he was trying to convey to the team, Looker said, "You always have to believe that you're going to win and you always have to believe that you can turn things around. Once you get down in the dumps as a team, people feed off that and it goes in the wrong direction. I don't want that to happen."
--QB Marc Bulger has been sacked 10 times in two games and the Seahawks have nine sacks in their two games.
Said Bulger, "We don't want to continue that so we try to get our running game going and open up passes and we've got to get in a rhythm to be balanced."
Asked about Seattle's rush, Bulger said, "They're good up front, as usual. (Patrick) Kerney is one of the best. They've got a good linebacking corps and the corners are good, so sometimes there's coverage sacks. I know San Fran threw the ball a ton last week and I know they got eight sacks or something like that so I think that's probably why they lead the league, but I don't want to take anything away from them. They're good and they've played together a long time."
Said coach Scott Linehan, "It's a really tough challenge and they've always really been on their game at their place. That's probably one of the best home-field advantages, especially for a defensive line, because of the crowd noise. That's going to be probably our toughest test and biggest match-up question of the game right there.
"It's not like you can really double one guy, you have to take everyone into account and block their front. A lot of it is just being prepared to play there and not put yourself in those long yardage situations, because that is what they thrive on."
--WR Donnie Avery could see significant action this week with Drew Bennett (foot) and Keenan Burton (knee) both sidelined by injuries. Bennett and Burton will not play this week.
Avery has worked exclusively at Torry Holt's spot, and missing practice during training camp and the first week of the season because of two injuries delayed the process of having him work at flanker and the slot.
This week, Avery is getting a crash course in the other positions.
Said Avery, "They are changing some things up a little bit and me and Torry will be on the field at the same time for some plays. We are just going to go out there and just do it."
BY THE NUMBERS: 17 -- Number of offensive and defensive categories out of a total of 28 that the Rams rank 30th or worse in the NFL. In the four special teams categories, the Rams rank 19th (kickoff return against), 26th (punt return against), 28th (kickoff returns) and tied for 29th (punt returns).
QUOTE TO NOTE: "Kicker. We're not going to play Josh Brown; he's just too nervous going back to Seattle." -- Coach Scott Linehan, jokingly answering a question about whether there would be any starting lineup changes this week.
