CLASS 4A
RUN TO STATE: The road to a state title will go through Skyline. The Spartans have been up to every challenge this season and should continue to find success. Auburn has the defenses to make a run at state, but beware of Ferris. Bothell could run through the top half of the bracket and make the state final for the third consecutive season.
BOTHELL (7-3) AT CURTIS (9-1), TACOMA, 7 p.m.
Outlook: Bothell is playing its best Football of the season after a slow start with explosive tailback Patrick Otterbech the offensive catalyst. The Vikings will counter with a backfield of RB Richard Southern (23 TDs) and 220-pound FB Charlie Gilmur (8 TDs).
P-I pick: Bothell 27, Curtis 10
KENTWOOD (8-2) AT ISSAQUAH (8-2), 7 p.m.
Outlook: This will be a slugfest with both progRams featuring big linemen. Both like running the ball between the tackles. Issaquah has struggled because of injuries but looks healthier now. The Conks have won seven straight and will go as far as RB Daerius Coleman and their O-line takes them.
P-I pick: Issaquah 31, Kentwood 13
ROGERS (PUYALLUP) (9-1) VS. SKYVIEW (8-2)
AT KIGGINS BOWL, VANCOUVER, 7 p.m.
Outlook: Rogers torched Lake Stevens for 55 points last week, including a pair of interception returns for TDs. Rams QB Tyler Van Sligtenhorst makes things happen on both sides of the ball. Skyview led by 16 and held on to beat South Kitsap 23-21 despite five SK turnovers. RB Duke Kelly (2 TDs last week) will be a marked man.
P-I pick: Rogers 37, Skyview 14
CENTRAL KITSAP (7-3) VS. OLYMPIA (10-0)
AT INGERSOLL STADIUM, OLYMPIA, 7 p.m.
Outlook: CK ran wild last week as senior Howie McDonald set a school record with 391 rushing yards and five TDS against Snohomish, while backup H'Arion Gaulden added another 107 yards and a TD. And these guys wanted to throw coming into the game? Olympia got this far with solid defense and literally shut down Eastlake in the second half last week.
P-I pick: Olympia 23, Central Kitsap 20
JACKSON (9-1) VS. FERRIS (9-1)
AT ALBI STADIUM, SPOKANE, 1 p.m.
Outlook: The T-Wolves offense starts with QB Andy Gay (13 TDs, 2 INTs) and has a nice 1-2 punch in RBs Taylor Cox (17 TDs) and Riley Carr (11 TDs) to go with a defense that has a knack for making big plays. They'll face a Ferris team that runs a no-huddle offense keyed by QB Connor Halliday and WR Aaron Roberts.
P-I pick: Ferris 27, Jackson 26
CENTRAL VALLEY (9-1) VS. SOUTHRIDGE (10-0)
AT LAMPSON FIELD, KENNEWICK, 1 p.m.
Outlook: CV advances behind a steady offense that topped 20 points in every game of the season. QB Blake Bledsoe, nephew of former NFL QB Drew Bledsoe, is the play-caller and keys the Bears attack. Southridge QB Andrew Mendenhall has more interceptions (14) than touchdowns (12).
P-I pick: Central Valley 28, Southridge 14\
CLASS 3A
RUN TO STATE: A matchup of unbeatens for the state title looks possible with Ferndale and Bellevue, the two favorites, on opposite sides of the bracket. The top half of the bracket is loaded, but Ferndale goes in as the favorite. Bellevue and Liberty seem destined to meet again. Meadowdale should post a couple of victories, but getting past the quarterfinals will be a challenge.
MEADOWDALE (6-3) VS. CAPITAL (7-3) AT INGERSOLL STADIUM, OLYMPIA, 1 p.m.
Outlook: Capital blanked Blanchet 7-0 for its third shutout of the season and will need another huge defensive effort to stop Meadowdale. The Mavericks have battled injuries and inconsistency but have a game-breaker in junior RB Naji Moore-Taylor (906 yards, 16 TDs).
P-I pick: Meadowdale 21, Capital 14
